Our objectives are the supports in ophthalmic field to Tibetan Refugee community, Dharamsala of north western part of India There are no Tibetan ophthalmologists in this community and no government assistances because of the Tibetan Refugee community.
Quite a few Tibetan people in this area think that it is hard to go to the Indian hospital even though they have become aware of deterioration of their eyesight. It has been frequently seen in senior people that they somewhat feel out of place with them because they have different cultures.
On the other hand, Japanese ophthalmologists are able to operate Cataract Surgery easier because Tibetan and Japanese both belong to the same racial roots; our religions derive from Mahayana Buddhism.
So we have been doing Cataract Surgery (operation) in Eye Camp for six years.
Now these days, the Delek Hospital and local people are seeking for our assistances and supports. So it is very necessary to conduct such a project over there.
We have been doing Screening Camp effectively in Tibetan Refugee Colony and its peripheral area to find out Cataract suffering people for the better activity of the hospital Eye Camp. And the one of these screenings is to work together by Tibetan Refugee ophthalmic Assistants and Indian ophthalmologists so that the exchange of this Human resource made their relationship much better. |
