Both the protection of water resource and wooded land, and the increase of people’s revenue (disposable income) are harmonically realized through active participation of all community members. |

| Outline of ongoing JICA Partnership Programme projects |
(1)Watershed Development Association(WDAs) are formed and trained. Ground and under ground water reserve (water level in agricultural reservoir and well-water table) is increased due to water management measures such as construction of bunds, leveling of lands and restoring streams, etc.
(2)Total amount of agricultural products and land productivity is increased by soil protection and better water distribution in existing and newly cultivated farmland.
(3)By having a resource center and sub area community centers; women’s active participation in social activities can be assured with proper training that lead to women’ s empowerment in the villages thereby realizing better living conditions.

Message
from the Representative in India:
Since 1992, LIFE has implemented the rural development projects in India.
In Tamil Nadu State, the project for women in rural area has been done from 2002.
Through our experience with forming SHG and training program for women, the project with JICA has been started in Karnataka since 2006. |
